Quantlab is seeking an HPC Administrator in Houston, Texas to support our growing technology infrastructure. If you are seeking an opportunity in Day-to-day administration and user support of the scientific research environment in a complex, high-performance, low-latency environment.

What you will be doing:

  • Perform day-to-day administration of the HPC cluster and related systems
  • Monitor HPC systems performance and utilization
  • Perform support for end users in scientific research environment
  • Apply scripting and programming skills to automate system related functions
  • Apply knowledge of HPC technologies to drive performance improvements
  • Assist in design and implementation of HPC cluster solutions and improvements
  • Develop and maintain documentation for all aspects of the HPC infrastructure
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Regularly required to sit, perform repetitive duties, use a PC and to talk and hear
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and bend with good balance, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms
  • Vision abilities include vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Occasionally required to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds, occasionally required to climb stairs
  • Environment: Primarily indoors

Who you are:

  • Ability to work on basic problems and to follow standard practices and procedures
  • Experience with Linux operating systems
  • Typically at least 1 year of hands-on experience with HPC systems support and administration
  • Experience with HPC technologies such as cluster managers (Bright) and schedulers (SLURM) preferred
  • Experience with HPC network technologies (Infiniband) preferred
  • Experience with HPC storage technologies (GPFS) preferred
  • Experience programming and scripting in using Bash, C, Perl or Python preferred
  • Experience supporting end users in a scientific research environment preferred
  • Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, SaltStack, etc.) preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with virtualization technologies desirable
  • Experience with Windows Server operating systems desirable
Bonus Points:
  • Recognized industry certifications, such as those provided by Red Hat (RHCE/RHCA), IBM, DDN, and others, are desirable
  • Proficiency with Linux and Windows Server operating system internals preferred
